അദ്ധ്യയനത്തിലും, അച്ചടക്കത്തിലും കലാകായിക മേന്മകളിലും ഏറെ മികവു പുലർത്തുന്ന, തിരുവനന്തപുരം ജൂലൈയിലെ പ്രശസ്ത വിദ്യാലയമാണ് പോത്തൻകോട് ലക്ഷ്മീ വിലാസം ഹൈസ്കൂൾ. മുരുക്കുംപുഴ ശ്രീ കുഞ്ഞൻ മുതലാളി, 1964-ൽ മാതാവ് ശ്രീമതി.ലക്ഷ്മിയുടെ നാമധേയത്തിൽ ഈ വിദ്യാലയം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മകനും ദീർഘകാലം വിദ്യാലയത്തിലെ അദ്ധ്യാപകനും, പ്രഥമ അദ്ധ്യാപകനുമായിരുന്ന ശ്രീ.കെ.പ്രഭുല്ലചന്ദ്രൻ സാറായിരുന്നു വിദ്യാലയത്തിന്റെ മാനേജർ. 164 വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളുമായി ആരംഭിച്ച വിദ്യാലയത്തെ 8 ,9 ,10 സ്റ്റാൻഡേർഡുകളിലായി രണ്ടായിരത്തോളം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ പഠിക്കുന്ന ജില്ലയിലെ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച വിദ്യാലയങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായി വളർത്തി എടുത്തതിൽ പ്രഭുല്ലചന്ദ്രൻ സാർ വഹിച്ച പങ്ക് വലുതാണ്.2014 ഡിസംബെരിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ആകസ്മിക നിര്യാണത്തെ ത്തുടർന്ന് ഭാര്യ ശ്രീമതി വി.രമ ടീച്ചർ മാനേജരായി ചുമതലയേറ്റു.
വിദ്യാലയത്തിന്റെ വളർച്ചയുടെ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ശ്രദ്ധേയമായ ഒരു നാഴികക്കല്ലാണ് 2001-2002 വര്ഷം ആരംഭിച്ച ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് മീഡിയം ക്ലാസുകൾ. തിരുവനന്തപുരം വിദ്യാഭാസ ജില്ലയിൽ കൂടുതൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളെ എസ് .എസ് .എൽ. സി പരീക്ഷയ്ക്കിരുത്തി മികച്ച വിജയം കരസ്ഥമാക്കുന്ന വിദ്യാലയങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് എൽ .വി.എച്.എസ്. സുസജ്ജമായ സയൻസ്, കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ ലാബുകളും, പ്രവർത്തനസജ്ജമായ ലൈബ്രറിയും,വായനാമുറിയും , കലാകായിക പരിശീലനവും, വിവിധ ക്ലബ്ബുകളും, ചിട്ടയായ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളും പഠന-പാഠ്യേതര രംഗത്ത് ഉന്നതനിലവാരത്തിലെത്താൻ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളെ സജ്ജരാക്കുന്നു. സ്കൗട്ട് ആൻഡ് ഗൈഡ്സ്, സ്റ്റുഡന്റ് പോലീസ് കേഡറ്റ് , ജെ.ആർ.സി. എന്നിവയുടെ പ്രവർത്തനം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളുടെ സ്വഭാവ രൂപീകരണത്തിൽ മുഖ്യ പങ്ക് വഹിക്കുന്നു. സാമൂഹ്യ, സാംസ്കാരിക കലാരംഗങ്ങളിൽ രാഷ്ട്രീയ രംഗങ്ങളിലും പ്രശസ്‌ത്രരായ നിരവധി പേര് നമ്മുടെ വിദ്യാലയത്തിലെ പൂർവ്വ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളായിരുന്നു.
പഠനകാര്യങ്ങളിൽ മാത്രമല്ല,പാഠ്യേതര രംഗങ്ങളിലും ഇവിടുത്തെ കുട്ടികൾ മുന്നിലാണ്. സബ്ജില്ലാ-ജില്ലാ, സംസ്ഥാന കലോത്‌സവങ്ങളിൽ ഈ വിദ്യാലയത്തിന്റെ സജീവ പങ്കാളിത്തം എക്കാലവും ഉണ്ടാകാറുണ്ട്. വിവിധ സംഘടനകൾ നടത്തുന്ന കലാ-സാഹിത്യ-വൈജ്ഞാനിക-കായിക മത്സരങ്ങളിൽ പങ്ക്കെ ടുത്സമ്മാനങ്ങൾ നേടിയെടുക്കുവാൻ നമ്മുക്ക് സാധിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
സേവന ത്പരരായ അദ്ധ്യാപകർ അവർക്കു നേതൃത്വം നൽകുന്ന ഹെഡ്മിസ്ട്രസ്, സ്കൂൾ മാനേജർ പഠനോത്സുകാരായ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ, രക്ഷകർത്താക്കൾ തുടങ്ങിയവരുടെ കൂട്ടായ പരിശ്രമമാണ് ഈ സ്ഥാപനത്തിന്റെ പുരോഗതിയ്ക്കു അടിസ്ഥാനം. ഈ കൂട്ടായ്മ നിലനിർത്തി കൂടുതൽ ഉയരങ്ങളിലെത്താൻ നമുക്ക് സാധിക്കണം

English Department
LVHS English Department is blessed with 11 teachers. On every academic year, we conduct ENGLISH FEST. It is a programme for sprouting the talents of UP & HS students of all Govt. Aided schools under Kaniyapuram Sub district. We proudly announce you that LVHS has been selected with Govt GHSS Cotton Hill For the proper implement of GOTEC (Global Opportunity through English Communication - a project by District centre for English). It is a special course of 50 hours through which English communication is encouraged.
Mathematics Department
ആകെ 12 അദ്ധ്യാപകരാണ് ഗണിത ശാസ്ത്ര ക്ലാസുകൾ കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുന്നത്. കഴിഞ്ഞ വർഷവും മുൻ വർഷങ്ങളിലും ധാരാളം മികവുറ്റ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ ഈ വിദ്യാലയത്തിൽ നടന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. സബ്ജില്ലാ തലത്തിൽ വര്ഷങ്ങളായി ഓവറോൾ ഫസ്റ്റും സെക്കന്റും നേടാൻ നമുക്ക് കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്. ജില്ലാതലത്തിലും സംസ്ഥാനതലത്തിലും നമ്മുടെ കുട്ടികൾ സമ്മാനങ്ങൾ നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട് (Pure construction, applied construction, Still model, Puzzle). ഈ വിദ്യാലയത്തിലെ കുട്ടികൾ പരീക്ഷയിലും ഉന്നത വിജയമാണ് നേടിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. A+ നേടുന്നതിലും വിജയ ശതമാനത്തിലും ഇപ്പോൾ നസ്ടന്ന ഗണിതോത്സവത്തിലും നമ്മുടെ വിദ്യാലയത്തിലെ കുട്ടികൾ സമ്മാനങ്ങൾ കരസ്ഥമാക്കി.
Social Science Department
Social Science Department consists of 11 teachers. Social science department of LVHS has been able to bag the overall championship in Sub district level Social Science fair since it's beginning. The school has won overall championship in district social science fair HS level. Social science working model has won national level selection too. Still model, working model, local history writing and Atlas making have won A grade several times at state level. Students have represented the school in social science quiz programmes and talent search exams at state level. In the current year students have represented the school in social science working model, Atlas making and Talent search examination at state level. Under the banner of the social science club all important days have been observed very relevantly.
Physical Education Department
Sri. Binoy. B is our Physical Education Department teacher. He represented Indian Kho-Kho team and he is a NIS coach.
We implemented Complete Health & Fitness Program for our students. Through this, we would be able to know the Health & Fitness levels of each and every student. We Recommend them to choose the sports according to their fitness level.
We have a good Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Football, Cricket, Netball, Swimming, Taekwondo and Athletics team (Sprinting events, long distance events, long jump, Shotput, Discus throw and Hammer throw). We try to engage as much students to participate in the sports events.
We believe, getting fit and engaging in physical activity will enhance physical, mental and social capacity of the students. It will also help in their academics. Building a strong citizen is our Moto.
